I had a client whose wedding was at the Grand Sunset Princess Resort, Mayan Riviera Cancun. He was not happy with the Champagne included with the package and upgrading to a better champaign at the resort was going to be extremely costly . So instead he asked if he could bring his own and the resort was more than happy to charge him a reasonable corkage fee. Naturally the resort was happy to charge a reasonable corkage fee and everyone was happy…
Then again, how do you get multiple bottles of Champagne or premium wine to your resort in Mexico? Simple, hire a cab. Take a cab from your resort to Wal-Mart, Sam’s club, City Club or liquor store in Playa del Carmen or Cancun. Buy the champagne and/or wine and jump back in the cab. (note that most cabbies will wait for you to shop)
If you or your guests like quality Champagne and/or wine, this is very much worth doing.
