Mayan Cenote Trash the Dress, Riviera Maya
Wedding photography lasts a lifetime, but it’s especially poignant when you are shooting a couple who first met when they were 15, who have overcome long distance, dealt with dreadful loss and come through it all! Stephanie and Glen grew up together and their love was forged by these experiences. I was happy to add a new dimension to their love story by shooting their romantic underwater Mexico trash the dress session. This was the perfect way for the couple to start their lifelong adventure together as “man and wife.”
A few days before the couple’s wedding, I picked them up at the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya Resort and we headed to my favourite Mayan cenotes where I knew the water and light would be perfect. After a little coaching, Stephanie and Glen were naturals under the water and we were able to get images that they will forever love hanging on their walls and share with their friends.
So, you might be asking yourself, “How did they do it? How did they get the wedding dress soaking wet and then get married a few days later?” Well, Stephanie had a second dress that she used underwater in the cenote trash the dress session. And this is a great idea for
Mayan’s believe cenotes to be the magical homes of spirits and I can’t help but think that more than a little of that Mayan magic came together in these photos! That magic, combined with a lot of love, created something spectacular.
Enjoy,
