I was lucky enough to be invited to shoot Stephanie and David’s wedding at the Ocean Coral and Turquesa on March 13th. The fun-loving couple had a mix of English and Canadian guests to share their special day. David is from England, and Stephanie from Canada so it was a trans-Atlantic wedding that took place in Mexico – where the weather was definitely better than in either the UK or North America….

As usual I asked them to answer a few questions before they arrived to get to know them better and to make sure I captured their personalities on the day. After the wedding, I asked them a few more questions so they could share their experiences of getting married in the Mayan Riviera, and share their story. Every time I read these stories I realize I have to share them, as every love story is unique and special and each one adds an entirely new dimension to the wedding photos.

David and Stephanie please can you give me a brief history of you as a couple and how you met?

We met in August 2009 at a mutual friends wedding in Ontario, Canada.? At this point I [David] lived in London, England, and Steph was living in Burlington, Canada.? After spending a few days together, I flew back to England, but I think we both felt that we had found someone very special.? After chatting over the phone and online for a further few months I moved to Canada in January 2010 to be with Steph.? After a few months of living together I decided she was definitely the ?one? and I proposed in June.? We immediately decided that with the international guest list a destination wedding would be perfect for us.

How was the Mayan Riviera Wedding day experience?
The resort [Ocean Coral and Turquesa] took care of everything on the wedding day so we could relax and get ready with our friends and family.? Everything went perfectly from the ceremony to the dinner (apart from a slight bit of rain J), we would without doubt fully recommend the destination wedding experience to anyone.? Dean was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. We had so much fun having our photos taken after the wedding with the groomsmen and bridesmaids. Dean was fantastic in teaching us how to get in position and look natural!? At the reception the biggest compliment we can pay Dean is that it was like having another guest at our wedding.? He was great at interacting with friends and family, and at no point did we find ourselves thinking about photos being taken.? From beginning to end the day was as close to perfect as we could have hoped for.

Do you have any funny or interesting stories from the day?
There were a few threatening storms clouds out at sea just before the ceremony started.? Luckily we got through the ceremony and a few group shots before we had to ?run? for cover.? However, this gave us an opportunity to have a few cocktails and relax.? The rain was short lived and we managed to get back out for some beautiful wedding party photos down on the beach. We even got a rainbow over the water which must be good luck!

Was there anything Dean did to make your day more successful or special?
To be honest Dean was great all through the day, and helped make the day extremely special.

What advise would you give someone interested in booking a destination wedding in Cancun?
Do it? the experience was absolutely great!!!? One bit of practical advice would be to make sure you research the resort, and are happy with all the arrangements before you go.

Do you have any feedback from your guests?
Everybody commented on how great the day was, and Dean especially got some great reviews.? A couple of our guests who are currently engaged were keen to get his card from us, so watch this space.

Do you have any suggestions on how to make the experience better?
Keep doing what you are doing.

I just want to say a huge thank you to both David and Stephanie as a couple, you and your friends and family were amazingly fun and I had a wonderful day. I was privileged to be part of it and I wish you both all the very best for your future.
