Dean’s Story – Becoming a Wedding Photographer in Mexico
This is me… I’m a photographer and I love what I do.
I photographed for a little over 8 years in Canada and then one day during a meeting in 2012 with my business coach I decided that would have a better life as a wedding photographer in Mexico than shooting commercial work in Canada. I LOVE shooting commercial work for advertisers and magazines, but life is more important than work, so I made the jump for a better life.
And I have to say, the work down here at the Riviera Maya is awesome. My clients are amazing. I love every single one of them and what is not to love? I join people on one of the best days of their lives! … and I do it day in day out… What’s not awesome about that?
Then the story of my life gets better. I was sitting at a cafe minding my own business when this really beautiful girl (Anna) picks me up. That fateful day turned into one little girl named Isabella which turned into another named Clara. They are the most precious little girls and watching them grow up is a true joy.
I would like to say I understood love before these little beings came along, but that would not be the truth. Intellectually, I understood what unconditional love was, but it was not until these little girls came along that I truly experienced it. To love someone so much that you accept them and everything they do fully is truly amazing. And they have changed the way I photograph. I see love differently now and I believe my images are much more real and capture the essence of someone rather than my interpretation of that person. I truly feel my art has matured and grown in leaps and bounds thanks to these little girls.
Please take your time on my site. Have a good look at the photos and decide if these are the type of wedding photographs you want and will want to look back in 20 years.
Also, I have some great info on how to make your wedding down here a success. The Mexican culture is a little different. For instance, they tend to apply a lot more makeup than they do up north and I want you to be prepared for this and the other little things that might be big surprises on your wedding day.
