I am happy to introduce Adrian Hernandez to our team. When I first met Adrian I was drawn to his amazing black and white fine art photography. Looking through his images, it took me about two minutes to realize that this guy has the eye of an artist. It’s hard for me to express what this means in words, but when you look at his images they have a way of drawing you in. They capture your attention and make you stop what you are doing to enjoy the beauty that he has captured.
Adrian was photographing with another studio before he took time off to concentrate on his fine art photography and after the birth of his beautiful little girl Layla in October 2014. Since he returned to wedding photography, I happened to meet him while he was looking for another studio to work with. I decided to have Adrian in for an interview, and after about 30 seconds, I knew he would make an amazing wedding photographer for the Dean Sanderson team.
Most landscape photographers are introverts and have a difficult time relating to people. This was not the case with Adrian. Adrian has a wonderful, open personality that is a pleasure to be around and he makes friends quickly. He is also outgoing enough to direct and keep control of situations. Also, his English is nearly perfect, allowing him to be able to communicate with clients. This way he can direct them in a way that is kind, productive and will allow their personalities to shine. Having Adrian photograph your wedding will be like inviting a good friend to be with you all day. After the interview, Adrian and I started to shoot together at my weddings as if he was going to work with me. I wanted him to put the flash away and start photographing weddings with the same presence and beauty that he does his fine art. Naturally, Adrian loved this as he was finally able to take what he loved about photography and apply it to weddings. This is when his images truly started to look amazing.
Normally, when I shoot with an associate photographer-in-training, my editor will select up to 10% of their images. However, with Adrian, she was selecting a good 30% of his images. This has never happened to me before and, if anything, it has left me a bit concerned. I’m worried he is going to be better than me, which is exactly what we need at this studio. A little healthy competition to be the best is great for our customers. I hope you enjoy his work as much as we have enjoyed meeting him and getting him up-and-going in our studio. We see big things ahead for Adrian and I am 100% confident we will have him booked solid through the end of 2015 and going into 2016. He is taking up to three weddings per week and will be spending the rest of his time working on his fine art portfolio and enjoying time with his daughter Layla and wife Paty.
Finally, although I refer to Anna as my wife, we have yet to have our wedding. She keeps telling me that she wants to lose the baby weight before we have a wedding, which I totally understand. I have often thought of “Who would I have as a photographer at our Wedding?” I can honestly say as of right now, it would absolutely be Adrian. The way he captures images that captivate your attention are exactly the type of images I would want for my walls. I hope you enjoy his work as much as we do.
